No doubt; Many friends told me that the year 2019 was a record-breaking season for movies. Just name it, any type or kind – Best Romantic movies, Action movies, comedy movies, Latest action movies, Best tv series, or the latest Netflix movies.
Plus it was also the year of the launch of Disney Plus Streaming platform.
For almost a decade, James Cameron’s sci-fi experience Avatar stayed at the top of the all-time box office chart, unchallenged by even the greatest recent Star Wars, Marvel, and Jurassic World movies. But finally, Avatar slipped into second place when Avengers Endgame maintained the title as the largest movie of all time.
Having an international box office gross of $2.29 billion, Endgame guaranteed Disney’s hugely successful 2019. However, the studio’s fortunes didn’t stop there–out of Captain Marvel and Toy Story 4 to The Lion King and Frozen II, no additional studio could come near. Nevertheless, there were successful and hugely acclaimed best movies & films elsewhere. DC’s Joker became the largest R-rated movie of all time, while movies as varied as
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Us, Parasite, Uncut Gems, and Midsommar demonstrated that original and ambitious movies still have a place amongst the blockbusters and franchise films. Obviously, it wasn’t all fantastic news.
There were still many secure, predictable films and big box office flops, such as fresh Men in Black and Black X-men movies, and the shift in the flowing landscape meant that highly acclaimed, awards-friendly films such as The Irishman and Marriage Story just received extremely limited theatrical releases.
While it’s unlikely that 2020 will send a movie as enormous as Endgame, it is still set to be an exciting year for movie lovers to enjoy the 25 best movies of 2020. Concerning the large franchises, Phase 4 of this MCU kicks off with Black Widow and The Eternals, while DC will expect its present run of success continues with Birds of Prey and Wonder Woman 1984. The newest James Bond movie finally arrives, and you will find fresh Bad Boys, Ghostbusters, Halloween, and Fast & Furious movies en route.
Beyond this, there are some intriguing reboots, for example, Candyman and Dune, the most recent film in Sony’s universe of Spider-Man characters, and also a pair of new, original Pixar films. The entire year will, of course, deliver much greater than that, so using so much on the way, we have picked the 25 best upcoming movies of 2020…
BEST UPCOMING MOVIES (2020) Trailer
1. Dolittle ( January 17, 2020)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has dominated Robert Downey Jr.’s career over the past decade, but with this (presumably) behind him, he is moving to other high-profile projects.
In this hugely costly, CG-heavy new version, Dolittle resides in a huge house with all his animal pals and ends up on an epic ocean-based experience. There have been many reports of reshoots, changing directors, and behind-the-scenes troubles, but with a voice-cast include Rami Malek, Octavia Spencer, and Emma Thompson, it has serious star power, in the least.
2. Bad Boys for Life (January 17, 2020)
Back in 1995, the original Bad Boys made TV actor and rapper Will Smith into a movie star and kickstarted the directorial career of Michael Bay. A sequel followed in 2003, however, it’s taken 17 years to get the next film to get here.
Bad Boys For Life reteams Smith with Martin Lawrence as rule-breaking Miami cops Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett, who now has to take down a ruthless drug baron. Joe Pantoliano is also back as long-suffering Captain Howard, and the new cast includes Vanessa Hudgens (High School Musical) and Alexander Ludwig (Vikings).
Rising Belgian directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are behind the camera this time, and the movie looks set to provide everything you would expect from a brand new Bad Boys Best movie–namely automobile chases, explosions, gunfights, and a great deal of wise-cracking comedy. A must watch, best series!
3. The Gentlemen (January 24, 2020)
Director Of the Gentleman’ Guy Ritchie scored among the past year’s biggest box office hits with all the Disney film Aladdin, but The Gentlemen returns to the type of movie by which he made his name.

4. The Turning (January 24, 2020)
This version of Henry James’s classic book The Turn of the Screw was initially scheduled for release way back in February 2019 and is finally be together with us 11 weeks afterward.

The cast is headed by Mackenzie Davis (Terminator: Dark destiny ) and Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things, It), and there’s also a role for director Edgar Wright. The Turning is led by acclaimed music movie manufacturer Floria Sigismondi, and it’s something of a passion project for producer Steven Spielberg, who reportedly wanted to participate with a scary movie again. Watch out for this super top movie.
5. Birds of Prey (February 7, 2020)
(Along with also the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn)
Have u been hungry for some best movies and series? Even though 2016’s Suicide Squad was not well received, most fans and critics agreed that Margot Robbie’ portrayal of mad former psychiatrist Harley Quinn was the highlight.
Robbie returns in Birds of Prey (along with the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn), in which Harley joins a brand new all-girl group, comprising Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell), Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez), and Cassandra Cain (Ella Jay Basco). Robbie previously teased the movie as an”R-rated girl gang movie,” along with the filmmakers have stressed that the film is certainly not a suicide Squad sequel. It is led by Cathy Yan, who will be expecting to replicate some of the achievement of this past R-rated DC film, Joker.
6. Sonic The Hedgehog (February 14, 2020)
Sonic the Hedgehog is such an iconic character that it is surprising it’s taken until 2020 to get a Sonic film to be made. But blue-furred turbo-charged Hedgehog eventually makes his live-action big-screen debut in February, following the infamous character redesign that caused that movie to be postponed by a few months.
The new-look CG Sonic is voiced by Parks and Recreation celebrity Ben Schwartz, and the individual cast is led by Jim Carrey as the evil Dr Robotnik and Westworld celebrity James Marsden as a small-town sheriff that ends up befriending Sonic. The film focuses Sonic trying to escape out of Robotnik as well as the US government while collecting the franchise’s iconic rings.
7. Bloodshot (February 21, 2020)
Vin Diesel is one man that Hollywood never forgets, he returns for the hottest Fast & Furious picture in the summer, but before this, we have this violent sci-fi action film.
Bloodshot is an adaptation of the Valiant comic series and celebrities Diesel as a former soldier who is brought back from the dead via advanced nanotechnology and sent to a series of missions to blow up things and kill people from various different manners. Guy Pearce (Iron Man 3) plays the dishonest doctor in control of his life, and it is led by Dave Wilson, who worked on the acclaimed Netflix animated anthology Love Death + Robots. The best movies of 2020 will never end – bet me!!
8. Onward (March 6, 2020)
Pixar has focused on sequels for the past couple of years, but the studio gets back to original movies in 2020, together with two new movies hitting theaters. The first to arrive is your fantasy comedy road movie Onward. A good number of Marvel Studio’s celebrities like Tom Holland and Chris Pratt play two Elf brothers who originally went on a quest to restore their deceased big daddy after a bungled spell only returns his legs.
Onward’s cast also contains Julia Louis-Dreyfuss (Veep) and Octavia Spencer (Ma), and it seems set to provide a beautifully-animated mixture of action, laughs, and tear-jerking family play. To put it differently, business as normal for Pixar.
9. A Quiet Place 2 (March 20, 2020)
What will you be doing in a Quiet Place? Lol
The Office and Jack Ryan star John Krasinski proved that he wasn’t only a talented performer –he had serious chops as a filmmaker too.
The movie was a tense, terrifying, and moving experience that transcended its gimmicky setup (make a noise and a monster will get you), and grossed over $340 million globally. Krasinski additionally directs the sequel, which stars Emily Blunt once more, alongside Cillian Murphy and Djimon Hounsou. Krasinski previously theorized that the sequel will expand the setting of the movie, saying,”[It] isn’t only a character to a group of characters or a narrative. It’s actually a universe, which is an entirely different, very distinctive experience.”
10. No Time To Die (April 10, 2020)
No Time To Die is your 25th best movie from the long-running James Bond series. Daniel Craig yields as the iconic British super spy to its fifth (and probably final) time, and he’s facing off against a mysterious villain called Safin, played by Oscar-winning Bohemian Rhapsody celebrity Rami Malek. There are a few characters if you pay attention on from previous films.
Films like Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux) and famous criminal mastermind Blofeld (Christoph Waltz) from 2015’s Spectre, also manager Cary Joji Fukunaga has proved himself to be a fashionable and exciting filmmaker with displays and movies such as Maniac, True Detective Season 1, and also Beasts of No Nation. The Bond series may be nearly 60 years old, but it appears it’s not prepared to die quite yet.
11. Black Widow (May 1, 2020)
She may have reached an unpleasant ending in Avengers: Endgame, but Scarlett Johansson’s Natasha Romanoff is back to headline her own movie. Black Widow is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War and sees Natasha return to Russia to sort out”unfinished business” involving the Red Room, the training program that created Black Widow representatives.
Florence Pugh (Midsommar) plays Yelena Belova, yet another Black Widow, David Harbour is a retired Soviet superhero Red Guardian, and Rachel Weisz plays Melina Vostokoff, a former agent also known as Iron Maiden from Marvel’s comic novels. The first trailer doesn’t give too much away plot-wise, but it looks like an exciting mixture of Bourne-style action and more traditional MCU thrills – this makes us consider it as one of the best movies to watch this 2020.
12. Fast & Furious 9 (May 22, 2020)
2019’s Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw gave Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham their own movie, but next summer we return to the main series. The title of the ninth entry has not been declared yet, but most of the gang are back (minus Dwayne and Jason), therefore that is Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, and Ludacris.
Helen Mirren and Charlize Theron will also reprise their roles from The Fate of the Furious (as Deckard Shaw’s mother Magdalene and wicked cyberterrorist Cipher respectively), and John Cena is among the newest additions to the cast. This will be Justin Lin’s fifth time helming an entrance in the series, and by now fans will understand exactly what to expect. So buckle up for much more insane, impossible automobile action and multiple uses of the word “family”.
13. Wonder Woman 1984 (June 5, 2020)
The initial Wonder Woman movie was the very best at that time. Funny, exciting, and at the time, very welcome assistance from darker DC Universe releases such as Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Morning of Justice.
The movie looks set to be even better, with Gal Gadot back as Diana Prince and Patty Jenkins directing more. As the title suggests, this film takes Wonder Woman to the mid-’80s where she and back-from-the-dead Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) will confront two legendary DC villains–Maxwell Lord (Pedro Pascal) and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig).
14. Candyman (June 12, 2020)
In addition to directing the hit films Get Out and Us, Jordan Peele has kept busy by writing and producing a record of other genre TV shows and films. He’s co-written this brand new variant of the terrifying’90s horror classic Candyman, which will be based on the story by Clive Barker.
It is described as a”spiritual sequel,” and while there has been a little confusion about who’ll play with the vengeful ghostly former slave of this name, it has been noted that it will, in reality, be original celebrity, Tony Todd.
15. Soul (June 19, 2020)
Soul is Pixar’s second movie of 2020 and trust me, it made the list of global 25 best movies of 2020.
The movie focuses on a jazz musician named Joe who, following a crash, finds that his body and soul have been split. His spirit is transported into a bustling training center where souls are developed before being placed into newborn infants, and he should find a way to go back to Earth and be reunited with his own body.
It has definitely got a weird plot, however from around Coco, some of Pixar’s best movies have had tales which look very strange on paper. Soul’s voice cast includes Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey, while writer/director Pete Docter has made a string of classic to the studio, such as Monsters Inc, Up, and Inside Out.
16. Best Gun: Maverick (June 26, 2020)
Top Gun was the most prosperous picture of 1986 and today stands as one of the decade’s most-loved films. So it is surprising it has taken over 30 years to get the sequel to arrive, but with Tom Cruise as large of a celebrity now as he’s ever been, there is no reason to think Top Gun: Maverick will not match with the original’s success. Time to get into the Danger Zone.
17. Ghostbusters: Afterlife (July 10, 2020)
Together with 2016’s female-led Ghostbusters reboot unsatisfactory at the box office, the most recent movie in the supernatural comedy show is a sequel to the first’80s movies. The movie takes the action from New York to rural Oklahoma, where the grandkids of among the first team encounter something bizarre happening in their town and find their connection to those first ghostbusting legends.
The very first trailer gives off powerful Stranger Things vibe, and director Jason Reitman will hopefully deliver some of the magic his father Ivan attracted to the classic first movie.
18. Jungle Cruise (July 24, 2020)
While many big movies have been turned into theme park rides through the years, the reverse may be true also. Disneyland’s Pirates of the Caribbean ride turned into a hugely popular five-film franchise, and the studio will probably be hoping for the same for Jungle Cruise. The river ship attraction was turned into a big-budget adventure comedy starring Dwayne Johnson as a riverboat captain that specializes in cruises down a dangerous jungle river in the 1930s. Emily Blunt plays an adventurer in search of a mysterious tree with healing properties and implores the unwilling Johnson to walk her down the dangerous mission downriver to locate it. Expect a lot of laughs and Indiana Jones-influenced super action filming in this one.
19. Morbius (July 31, 2020)
Spider-Man might be staying with the MCU for the time being, but that does not mean that Sony’s world of characters from Spidey comics is awaiting him to join them. Morbius follows the hugely powerful Venom and focuses on the”living vampire” of this name.
Jared Leto happens on the lead character as scientist Michael Morbius, who’s awarded vampiric superpowers following an experiment to cure a blood disease goes wrong. The original Morbius comic had a dark terror advantage, and while there’s no word though Morbius will have a PG-13 or an R rating, director Daniel Espinosa previously revealed his genre skills together with the sci-fi horror Life.
20. Bill & Ted: Face The Music (August 21, 2020)
After almost 30 years, Wyld Stallyns are getting back together. Bill & Ted Face the Music is the highly -anticipated third film in the time-travelling comedy collection, and it reunites Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter as now middle-aged rockers Ted”Theodore” Logan and Bill S. Preston, Esq..
The plot gets the pair attempting to save the universe by going back in time to see old friends, enemies, and younger versions of these, while accompanied by their now-adult daughters. Though it’s been a long time since the last film, it’s in safe hands–series founders Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon have written the script, whilst director Dean Parisot also helmed Galaxy Quest, another’90s comedy classic.
21. The King’s Man (September 18, 2020)
The King’s Man may be the third picture from the Kingsman series, but it’s really a prequel set decades before the first two films. It explores the roots of the franchise’s secretive spy organization and stars Harris Dickinson as a young agent who is recruited to take part in a series of dangerous adventures.
The film has a wealthy cast list that cannot be underestimated. In the person of superstars like Repl Fiennes, Liam Neeson, Daniel Bruhl, Gemma Arterton, Rhys Ifans, and Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and like the previous movies, it is directed by Matthew Vaughn, so expect a similar mixture of intrigue, comedy, and outlandish actions.
22. Halloween Kills (October 16, 2020)
The massive success of 2018’s Halloween reboot/sequel proved there is still life at the long-running slasher series. Director David Gordon Green has taken the following two movies back-to-back, and the first will soon be with us in October.
Initial celebrity Jamie Lee Curtis is back to fight her masked nemesis Michael Myers on the streets of Haddonfield once more, and show co-creator John Carpenter will offer another legendary score. The third film, the almost-certainly inaccurately titled Halloween Ends, is due in 2021.
23. The Witches (October 16, 2020)
Roald Dahl’s spooky children’s classic has been adapted once before, back in 1990, together with Anjelica Huston in unforgettably frightening type as the Grand High Witch. Anne Hathaway takes on the function in this new version, and the cast also contains Octavia Spencer (Ma) and Stanley Tucci (Transformers: The Last Knight).
It’s directed by blockbuster veteran Robert Zemeckis (Back to the Future, ” The Polar Express), and even though the location has been moved from the British shore to Alabama in the 1960s, together with Guillermo Del Toro one of the manufacturers, it is a fantastic bet that Dahl’s mixture of charming fantasy and macabre chills will stay intact.
24. The Eternals (November 6, 2020)
While Black Widow kicks off Marvel Stage 4, that is still a movie about a popular and familiar character. The Eternals presents a all-new cast and a group that are not nearly as well called The Avengers.
But that has been just true for Guardians of the Galaxy, and it did not long for Star-Lord along with his crew to become household names and expect this movie to deliver the usual Marvel magical on a spectcaular cosmic scale. The Eternals celebrities Angelina Jolie, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Brian Tyree Henry, and Salma Hayek as part of an immortal alien race who has to protect humanity from the evil Deviants.
25. Dune (December 18, 2020)
Frank Herbert’s classic sci-fi novel is becoming an epic new movie adaptation out of Arrival and Blade Runner 2049 director Denis Villeneuve.
Dune the movie was previously adapted by David Lynch from the’80s and as a TV mini-series from the early 2000s, but the two versions were quite faulty, and Villeneuve’s undeniable eyesight as a sci-fi filmmaker.
Plus the amazing cast he’s assembled–promises great things from this saga of warring galactic families and giant spice-worms. Timothy Chalamet celebrities like Paul Atreides, with Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica, Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Harkonen, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Dave Bautista as “Beast” Rabban. Rolling-in on December, stay tuned for the 25 best movies in 2020.
Obviously, the history of terrible video game adaptations means we shouldn’t ever get too excited about a fresh one, but with any luck this will be nearer to the most published Tomb Raider movie other than a film of the same concept as Assassin’s Creed. Don’t get too excited on this exhaustive list of best upcoming movies of 2020 yet, more hot things are coming ONLY on MovieandGamezone.com
