Both officers were fast thinkers and accompanied with quick reflexes to pull this off. The young man received help after his attempted suicide.
This incident occurred in April 2019 with the video only released this September. But one of the men, Lt. McCarter was awarded the Life-Saving Award by the Knoxville Police Department last month.
“Because of their agility and quick actions, the young man is alive,” A post on the Knox County Sheriff’s office read. Both Lt. McCarter and Officer Rehg are true local heroes, not just because of this one incident but because they continue to risk their lives daily for the safety of others.”
